It's been two years (2018) since the AVE metering system started sending natural-gas consumption data (both large-scale and medium-scale consumers' data) to the OTE energy portal. In 2020, data transfer from the AVE system to OTE was fully automated and expanded to include the transfer of power consumption data.
This function is used by all gas distribution companies in Czechia as well as by a number of customers who use the AVE metering system for the remote reading of energy consumption data (e.g., shopping centers and large manufacturing facilities with a lot of tenants).
The AVE system allows sending data to the OTE portal both automatically and manually.
Data transfer in the automatic mode is used mainly for the transfer of hourly profiles, which in most cases are transferred once a day. These profiles contain data for the previous energy day. Data transfer is performed by calling the OTE portal's Web services. Once the portal receives the data, it is validated and processed. The portal's response contains information about successfully or unsuccessfully processing the data. This information is logged in the AVE system. It can also be sent to responsible persons by email or SMS. The advantages of this solution include the fact that the entire data exchange process is fully automated and secure. Data transfer is performed using a secure protocol, which requires that a security certificate be issued by OTE.
In the manual mode, data for a longer period of time (e.g., for one month) is transferred. This mode is also used as a backup path for data transfer to OTE. The entire data export process is maximally simplified, which allows the user – accompanied by a wizard – to perform it in a few easy steps. The wizard for exporting gas consumption data is different from that for exporting power consumption data.
The result of manually exporting data is one or more XML files. These files can be uploaded directly to the OTE portal, or they can be sent securely by email (e.g., using Microsoft Outlook with a certificate installed).
